With more than 20 years in Cuenca, the music school “Amadeus” has been active in the cultural aspect, helping in the musical education of thousands of pleased students through the years.
Their goal is to raise awareness regarding musical education as an important tool to develop the culture as well as giving the students the satisfaction of being able to know about music and perhaps make a career out of it.
Usually the centre gives intensive courses with no limit of age, to many levels of musical knowledge. However there have been many cases of students who have been studying many years at “Amadeus” and this has helped them to pursuit good musical careers, whereas in local or international bands or as teachers in other music schools.
Description of the work
Most of the students go to the centre to study about Ecuadorian folk and pop music, however, many others have asked to learn classical music or music from other parts of the world, in some cases it’s been possible, but the knowledge from the teachers is not the necessary and there hasn’t been possible to develop a proper course that would satisfy the students’ needs.
At “Amadeus” you’ll be able to teach what you know about music, whereas is singing, classical or electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, drums, flute or any other instrument you can play and you want to share with others, this is the chance to do it!
At the end of the course (minimum 3 months) there is a presentation to show what the students have learned, you will be very proud to see the progress your students have made.
Keep in mind
It is important that you are committed to the work and have patience to teach. It would be a great help for the community if you brought books, dictionaries or any material to teach, remember that the project has just started.
Time: Minimum three month time requirement.
The volunteer will choose his/her own schedule.
Board and Lodging:
Provided by the School if needed.
Transport will be paid from the school as well.
