About the institution
Hospital Miguel León is one of the three projects available for volunteer work at Hogar Miguel Leon.
The place is intended as a home for terminal disease patients, in the Hospital the patients receive their last cares, medication, psychological advice not only for them, but also to their families, in order to help them in that difficult situation which is knowing that their relatives are facing their last days.
The Hospital is managed by a group of priests and nuns who are in charge of maintaining the place as well as hiring doctors to help the patients.
Ever since it opened to the public, their commitment to the work and the quality of their services has made Hospital Miguel Leon stand out to other centres in the city.

Description of the work
Depending on your medical knowledge, you may assist with diagnosis, therapies and monitoring of the patients.
If you do not have medical background, you may help the nurses bathe the patients, tiding up the place, talking to the patients, help to take them out to the sun light for a moment, etc.
Keep in mind:
You will have the opportunity to arrange your own timetable but you need to be punctual and dedicated to your work when you first have made an agreement with the centre.
Also, bear in mind that due to the nature of the work it may be difficult at the beginning, but the staff is always willing to help and answer your questions.
Time: Minimum two weeks.
What you will get from the workplace:
- An introduction meeting where you will get to know the Institution, the program, and set your goals in the field you’d be interested.
- Frequent follow up.
- A certificate at the end of your volunteer work period.
Board and Lodging: None.
Costs: $5 a week to support the institution at buying food for the patients.
